Taiwan's Patriot Missile "Explodes" During Drill, China Takes Action Against Philippines' Ships |4K

A US-made Patriot II missile fired by the Taiwanese military reportedly exploded just four seconds after launch during a live-fire exercise on August 20. Meanwhile, China says it has taken “control measures” against two Philippine vessels near a disputed shoal as tensions rise in the contested waters of the South China Sea. “Control measures” were taken against Manila’s vessels deployed from the Sierra Madre, a warship grounded on the disputed Second Thomas Shoal. Beijing accused the Philippines’ ships of “deliberately engaging in provocative collisions” when approaching the China Coast Guard. At least two Chinese research vessels have been operating around Scarborough Shoal at the same time as a Philippine ship is patrolling the disputed area, SCMP* reported.. . . . n18oc_crux
