“Sowing Chaos…” Sharaa Hints at Blow to Syria-Israel Normalisation? US Cites "Misunderstanding" |4K

Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa vowed that those behind violence against the Druze minority in Sweida would be held accountable. "We are keen on holding accountable those who transgressed and abused our Druze people,” Sharaa said, adding that they are under the protection “of the state.” The Syrian president also said that "responsibility" for security in Sweida would be handed to religious elders and some local factions.Sharaa was addressing Druze citizens in his first televised statement following the deadly clashes in Southern Syrian city. He added that "outlaw groups", whose leaders "rejected dialogue for many months" had committed "crimes against civilians" in recent days.Sharaa’s remarks came as Syrian soldiers began withdrawing from Druze-majority Sweida on July 16, the country’s defense ministry said. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION3:24 SHARAA ACCUSES ISRAEL OF “CREATING DISCORD”5:42 US URGES END TO HOSTILITIES CAUSED BY “MISUNERSTANDING”
