Israel has urged the US to renew its military strikes on Houthis after President Trump declared a ceasefire with the Iran-backed group. The plea by Tel Aviv reportedly comes after the Yemeni rebels intensified attacks in the Red Sea, including the deadly seizure of two vessels. Israel told the US that ongoing Houthi assaults on shipping “can no longer remain solely an Israeli problem”, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reports. Tel Aviv has proposed “more intense combined attacks against Houthi regime targets”, the Kan report added. In May, President Donald Trump declared an end to the strikes on Yemen as a result of a ceasefire between the U.S. and the Houthis, brokered by Oman. Notably, the report comes amid Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu ongoing US visit where he met President Trump and other top US officials. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:18 “OUR DECISION TO PREVENT NAVIGATION TO ISRAEL IS PERMANENT”4:45 GERMANY URGES ‘UNDERSTANDING WITH IRAN OVER ITS REGIONAL BEHAVIOUR’
